DR. LEE SEUNGMIN
"Beauty with sincerity, you who shine with sincerity"
I really like beauty. It’s not just limited to medical procedures, but I’ve been very attracted to the entire process of a person becoming more beautiful and loving themselves. Since my medical school days, I’ve been deeply interested in cosmetics and beauty device development, and I’m currently directly involved in the development of HIFU medical devices and functional cosmetics. After becoming a doctor, there were many days when I stayed up all night looking for papers and analyzing data. I spent my time working 7 days a week or working 6 days a week and attending academic conferences. Many people asked me, “Isn’t it hard?” but I actually enjoyed and was grateful for that time. Looking back, I’ve always been sincere about ‘beauty.’
But as time went by, reality changed little by little. More and more hospitals were focused on price competition rather than the essence of treatment, and the flow centered on capital rather than patient-centered began to dominate the medical field. I felt that the purity and depth of this field called aesthetic medicine that I loved was slowly but surely being damaged. That moment was very sad. So I made a promise to myself. “The more it is like that, the more I should focus on the essence. I should approach each and every person with sincerity.” With that one promise, I silently did my best to provide treatment, and many people who felt my sincerity came to visit me regularly from far away places, even overseas.
It was a time when I realized that sincerity eventually gets through. However, ironically, as the number of patients increased, the proportion of my contribution to the hospital's sales also increased, and the time and leisure I could actually focus on one person began to decrease. The hospital wanted more treatment, and I was increasingly in a situation where I was being chased by 'speed' rather than 'treatment density'. One day, I suddenly asked myself, "Could it be that I am also contributing to the trend of this aesthetic medicine being ruined?" And I made a decision.
I wanted to create a space where real medicine and real beauty could be restored. I wanted to be a doctor who listens deeply to a person's story, understands their real needs, and creates the most meaningful results together, rather than just a doctor who performs many procedures. That's why I started BTQ. At BTQ, we perform procedures that patients absolutely need, even if they don't make money, and we boldly refrain from performing procedures that are meaningless to the patient, even if they make money. BTQ is a hospital that focuses on the essence and sincerity of medicine, not the logic of capital.
Breaking away from conventional treatment methods, we aim to provide fast and accurate consultations to anyone with a systematic consultation algorithm, and to create results that truly satisfy each and every person. I believe that sincerity will eventually reach the end. Even if it is a little slow and difficult, if there is trust from patients at the end of the road, I will gladly choose that road. BTQ is not simply a space to change your appearance. We aim to be a companion who discovers your hidden value and goes on a journey to regain confidence. We sincerely hope that “you who truly shine” will join us on that road.
